For over 40 years, Stadtgarten Köln has been one of the internationally recognized venues in Europe, serving as a hub for significant developments in jazz and contemporary music. Approximately 400 events spanning all areas of contemporary music are held at Stadtgarten Köln. Its international reputation is primarily due to the high proportion of ambitious, experimental programs that support outstanding projects from both the Cologne and NRW scenes, alongside international artists and ensembles. The venue’s initiatives include awarding commissions, artist residencies, exchange programs, and educational opportunities. Since 2022, the Artistic Director has been Kornelia Vossebein.
