Ruth Fisher is a highly respected jazz presenter in the UK and internationally for her deep knowledge and unwavering passion for the genre. During her long career as a broadcaster and curator on Jazz FM and One Jazz, she has developed a warm, enthusiastic, and informative presenting style.
Throughout her career, Ruth has interviewed hundreds of musicians, including DeeDee Bridgewater, Jazzmeia Horn, Al Jarreau, Roy Ayers, Zara McFarlane, Christian McBride, Carmen Lundy, John Altman, Kenny Garrett, and Fred Hersch. Notably, she was the first person in the UK to interview Gregory Porter in 2010. Additionally, she has spoken with well-known figures outside of the music industry, such as Lord Sebastian Coe and journalist and author Tim Marshall.
Beyond her broadcasting role, Ruth is actively involved in shaping the programming for various jazz festivals, including the Cambridge Jazz Festival and the Gibraltar World Music Festival, she serves as the lead programmer for Watford Jazz Junction. She collaborates closely with the Musical Director of the Red Sea Jazz Festival. She participates as a panelist and judge in international showcases in Spain, the Balearic Islands, and the Netherlands. Ruth also sits on the Board of the National Jazz Archives.
